Account Access and Logging Out

Get an account

To use Carl R. Ice College of Engineering computer labs, you will need your eID and password. However, your account must be provisioned to use our computer labs. This is done automatically based on a feed we get from KSIS for all students who are engineering majors or taking engineering courses. Once you no longer meet these requirements, your account will be de-provisioned and you will no longer have access.

If you feel you should have access and your account is denied login, please either email support@engg.ksu.edu or come by our office in 0012 Seaton Hall.

Please read our lab policies page for information regarding appropriate and fair use of engineering computing resources.

Logging out

Always log out!

Always log out. This means telling the operating system you wish to log out, then waiting for a few seconds until it carries out your request and informs you that it has done so. Simple instructions for doing so are below. YOUR ACCOUNT IS NOT SECURE UNLESS YOU END YOUR SESSION BY LOGGING OUT.

Don't end your session by walking away from your computer while you are still logged in. The next person to use the computer will have full access to your account and could, intentionally or accidentally, destroy your files or do other things that could harm you.

How to log out
  • Go to the start menu (the Start button) and choose Log Off.
  • Press the CTRL-ALT-DEL keys simultaneously and select Logout from the dialogue box that appears. In our labs, for security reasons, this also causes the computer to restart.
