Architectural Engineering
Kansas State University has a rich heritage of excellence in preparing master’s graduate students to pursue an academic, government or industry career. The GE Johnson Department of Architectural Engineering and Construction Science has excellent facilities, which include design and drafting rooms, classrooms, faculty offices, an outstanding electrical and lighting laboratory for research and teaching, and access to the most recent computer technology.
Degrees
Master of Science
The objective of the program is to provide advanced studies in engineering, analysis and design of building systems. This degree requires a minimum of 30 credit hours of graduate-level course/research work.
Accelerated B.S./M.S.
The department offers an accelerated bachelor's and master's degree program to undergraduates in architectural engineering. This professional master's degree challenges top students in architectural engineering with research experiences, faculty mentoring and advanced coursework. Students and faculty are matched by interest and capability to determine an emphasis area, program of study, and graduate committee. Current emphasis areas include the following: mechanical systems, electrical power distribution, illumination and building structural design.
Research areas
The research interests of the department’s faculty cover the following major areas of modern building systems design: lighting/electrical, heating and air conditioning, plumbing, structural analysis, cold-formed steel design, energy analysis, energy auditing, acceptance testing and indoor air quality. Research interests also cover structural building systems including timbers, masonry, steel, reinforced concrete and seismic design.

English language program (ELP)
