Course Description:
CE 015 is like any other required course, except that it is taken by all civil engineering students every semester enrolled as a civil engineering undergraduate student. This course provides information about the practice of civil engineering, social activities and opportunities to develop leadership skills through involvement in the Kansas State University chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). CE 015 is a required, 0 credit hour course with a Credit/No Credit grading.
CE 015 Assemblies, sponsored by Kansas State University Student Chapter of ASCE provides a broad introduction to the civil engineering profession. Topics covered include career opportunities in civil engineering, professional and ethical responsibilities of the engineer, the importance of professional licensure and the need for lifelong learning and continuing education. The officers of the KSU Student Chapter of ASCE in consultation with the instructors organize the assemblies and activities each semester and provide input into establishing the requirements for receiving credit for CE 015.
CE 015 Canvas Site:
All students enrolled in CE 015 will have access to the CE 015 Canvas site. Through Canvas, students will be able to review the current course syllabus, assignments (schedule of Assemblies, Social Activities and Service Activities), gradebook that is used to track the accumulation of points. If you are not a CE student or transferred into the Civil Engineering Department mid-semester, you can request access to the Canvas site and not be enrolled in CE 015. Only students that are considered to be civil engineering students at the begiining of the semester are required to be enrolled in CE 015, but your participation in CE 015 activities is encouraged.
