Undergraduate Enrollment
All students are required to complete a pre-enrollment advising appointment within their department each semester. A hold is placed on every student’s record and must be removed by an academic advisor before enrollment for the following semester is allowed.
Enrollment dates and times vary for each student based upon completed credit hours. Students with more completed hours are eligible to enroll earlier. Students are strongly encouraged to consult with their academic advisor before making any course changes during the semester to ensure informed academic decisions.
Prepare for an enrollment advising appointment
Academic advisors will email students instructions on how to sign up for an enrollment advising appointment.
It's important to come prepared for enrollment advising appointment so that it can be as productive and efficient as possible for both the student and the academic advisor.
Before enrolling, students must meet with their academic advisor to review degree progress, select appropriate courses and discuss any changes to personal, academic or professional goals. Advisors will email students with instructions for scheduling an enrollment advising appointment. Please wait for this message before scheduling. Students must complete the enrollment worksheet provided by their advisor and prepare a tentative course schedule prior to their appointment. Students who arrive late or unprepared will be asked to reschedule. If advising does not occur, the advisor hold will remain in place and enrollment will not be permitted. Enrollment eligibility dates and times can be found in KSIS by selecting Student Center and reviewing the information under Enrollment Dates. After a successful advising appointment, the advisor will remove the advisor hold. Students may then enroll through the Student Center once their enrollment date and time are available and no other holds remain. To ensure an efficient and productive appointment, students are expected to come prepared by completing the following steps:
In KSIS under the Student Center, review any holds and take action accordingly. (The advisor hold will be removed after a successful advising appointment.)
Run and review your DARS report. If applicable, ensure any transfer credits are being pulled in correctly. Note any questions and bring them to your appointment.
Use DARS to identify completed and in-progress courses on your degree map. This will aid in selecting courses to take in the next semester.
You will follow K-State Core (fall 2024 or later) or K-State 8 (prior to fall 2024). Gen ed requirements are built into degree maps.
Create your conflict-free schedule using the KSIS course search and/or course schedule (dates/times) and the course catalog (pre/co-requisites). Identify one or two alternate course options in case of limited availability.
If unsure, build a schedule with courses you are considering and come prepared with course options and questions.
Add desired courses to your KSIS shopping cart for the intended semester. Adding courses to the cart does not reserve a seat.
Your advisor will provide you with a enrollment worksheet to document the courses you plan to take in the upcoming semester. Note any questions for your advisor in this worksheet.
The 5-digit course number is a unique identifier for each class section each term. It can be found on the Course Schedule or after adding the course to your KSIS Shopping Cart.
Email the completed worksheet to your academic advisor prior to the appointment or bring a printed copy to the appointment.
On the day of your appointment, arrive at your advisor's office a few minutes early with your worksheet and any questions.
Many classes are only offered in the fall or the spring semester. Be sure to check prerequisites and plan accordingly to make sure you have the appropriate prerequisites completed before the course that requires them.
Waitlisted courses do not count toward total enrollment. Students who need to maintain full-time status should consult with their advisor about enrolling in an alternative course.
Students who arrive late or unprepared to and advising appointment will be asked to reschedule. If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, it is your responsibility to contact your academic advisor or reschedule through Navigate.
