Frankenhoff Outstanding Research Award
The Frankenhoff Outstanding Research award is based upon research accomplishments during the past five years, and awardees receive a $3,000 cash prize. Selection criteria include the following:
- Success in obtaining competitive funding and completion of research
- Commitment to graduate education
- Dissemination of research results through publications, presentations, patents, software and other means
- Research leadership such as national recognitions and organizing research teams
Nominations are due March 15, 2024 and application packets are due May 1, 2024.
Current recipient
Doina Caragea
This year’s recipient is Doina Caragea, professor in the computer science department.
Caragea’s research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, National Institute for Health, U.S. Department of Transportation, Office of Naval Research, United Sorghum Checkoff Program, United Soybean Board and industry. She generally contributes 10 or more refereed publications per year in top venues, and she received the IAAI Deployed Application Award in 2021 and the Best Insight Paper Award at the ISCRAM annual conference in 2019.
